The Fraser
Institute's Hospital Report Card: British Columbia provides an
invaluable tool that patients and the general public can use to
stimulate improvements in the quality of health services by measuring
the performance of British Columbia's 95 acute care hospitals.
The 39 indicators of in-hospital quality of care information contained in the
Hospital Report Card analyze over 3 million patient records over the period from
2001/2002 to 2008/2009. The two new experimental indicators adapted by the
Fraser Institute analyze these records for the years 2007/2008 and 2008/2009.
Data from all 95 of British Columbia's acute care hospitals are included in the
report. A
news release summarizing the report card and the current results was issued
on July 7, 2011.
